Thirteen agritech companies in British Columbia are receiving $658,000 in government grants, matched by industry contributions for a total of $2 million, under the B.C. Centre for Agritech Innovation (BCCAI). Announced at the 2024 Pacific Agriculture Show, the funding supports innovations in pest management, soil health, and year-round crop cultivation. BW Global Structures, a recipient, will use $288,000 to adapt outdoor plant varieties for greenhouse conditions, addressing food, energy, and water security. The initiative is expected to create 76 jobs and support advanced agricultural training for 142 people, fostering a sustainable food supply and economic growth in B.C.
