A new Community and Employer Partnership project in British Columbia is training 36 individuals for jobs in the heavy industrial manufacturing sector. The Province has allocated $478,277 to the program, offered in partnership with Mussell Crane Manufacturing and local employers. Participants receive 10 weeks of skills training, including forklift and crane operation, followed by on-the-job experience and job search support. The initiative aims to address the skilled labor shortage in the industry and is part of B.C.’s Skills for Jobs Blueprint, which seeks to align education with in-demand jobs. Over 1,200 job seekers have benefited from similar programs to date.
